To say that 18-year-old Eileen Gu took the Beijing Winter Games by storm would be an understatement. The Olympic freestyle skiing sensation caught people’s attention long before bringing home two gold medals and a silver. With her awesome skills on the slopes coupled with her good looks, she has quickly become a new favourite amongst sports fans and advertisers. Recently, the Olympian popped up a photo of herself all smiles with the one and only Jackie Chan on Instagram.
It seems Eileen caught the eye of the superstar way before she even became uber popular in China. After carrying the Olympic torch for the Beijing Winter Games, Jackie mentioned his favourite sports to watch were pair (figure) skating and ski jumping. The movie star also mentioned Eileen’s name when he expressed his hopes Chinese athletes can bring home more medals in the Winter Olympics.
A Future In Showbiz?
Eileen also met director Ding Sheng, the man behind movies such as Police Story: Lockdown and Railroad Tigers when she shot a short film for the Winter Olympics which he directed. Appearing to be quite impressed with the 18-year-old athlete and model, Ding Sheng asked her whether she was interested in entering showbiz. Eileen responded with an emphatic “very interested!”
However, the good director might have to take a number as a staffer explained he’s a wee bit too late and will have to queue up behind Jackie Chan. Sounds like we might have to keep an eye out for a future project involving Eileen and Jackie. Add that to the fact that Eileen recently popped up a short clip of her training with the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, the idea of a collab is quickly sounding more and more plausible. What’s more… the director actually smiled and said “I might also be directing that project”.
