Beijing Winter Olympics

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics is almost upon us and promotions for the Games which open on the 4th of February are also ramping up. To drum up more hype for the event, organisers managed to rope in 105 musicians, actors and more in a list that practically reads like a who’s who of showbiz. The initiative is similar in scale to 2008’s Summer Games also hosted by the Chinese capital whose theme song entitled “Beijing Welcomes You” was a joint collab between 100 artists.

For Beijing 2022, the group sang the feature song entitled “Together for a Shared Future” 一起向未来 which launched on the first day of the Lunar New Year celebrations today, February 1.

Jackie Chan, Deng Chao, Huang Bo, Andy Lau, Wu Jing, Nicholas Tse, Karen Mok, Angela Chang, Coco Lee, Jacky Cheung, Zhou Xun, Chen Kun, Huang Xiaoming, Li Bingbing, Shu Qi, Alan Tam, Miriam Yeung, Donnie Yen, Yang Mi, William Chan, Jackson Wang, Jackson Yee, Lay Zhang, Johnny Huang, Arthur Chen, Jane Zhang, Charlie Zhou Shen, Zhang Bichen, Chris Lee, Jam Hsiao, Zhang Jie, Hu Xia, Yisa Yu, Shan Yichun, Cantopop duo TWINS and Richie Ren are just some of the stars appearing on the video.

Interestingly, also invited to participate is actress Yang Zi whose real name Yang Ni Ao (杨旎奥) has a bit of an Olympic “connection” since the Ao(奥) in her name was taken from the phrase 成功申奥 which means “successful bid for the Olympics”.

When asked in an interview a few days ago, Yang Zi said she’s very excited and very proud. As a Beijing resident, she excitedly said having her hometown be the first to host BOTH Summer and Winter Olympic Games makes her super proud and that it was a dream come true.”
