Youku’s brand new historical drama Legend of Anle (An Le Zhuan) 安乐传 officially kicks off filming today with none other than Dilraba Dilmurat and Simon Gong Jun at the helm. Surprised? Many of you probably won’t be since the rumour mill already called this potential pairing early on. Nonetheless, there is nary a doubt that expectations will be very high for this first time pairing between the two stars.
Legend of Anle is adapted from author Xing Ling’s novel Di Huang Shu 帝皇书 and Netizens who are familiar with the story have said that the plot is reminiscent of Hu Ge’s Nirvana in Fire with Anle being the female version of Mei Changsu! In the story, the female protagonist Di Zi Yuan (Dilraba Dilmurat) reinvents herself as the “bandit” Ren Anle after one man’s treachery and desire for power sees her entire family killed. Orphaned, she works her way into the palace, vowing to seek revenge and restore her family’s good name. An unexpected complication comes in the form of Simon Gong Jun’s character Prince Han Ye.
Simon Gong Jun is considered a hot commodity right now what with his popularity continuing to soar following Word of Honor’s runaway success, which makes his next costume drama all the more buzz-worthy. If the drama plays its cards right – from the chemistry between its leads to the story that’s engaging from the very beginning, a successful pairing will surely do wonders. However, it appears some of Gong Jun’s fans are still a bit iffy he won’t be getting as much screen time since his character isn’t the main focus of the female-led drama.
Interestingly, it seems like reunions are in order for the cast of The Long Ballad. Aside from Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi working together to star in another drama, Diliraba reunites with co-star Liu Yuning in Legend of Anle who rounds up the three main leads. Little is known about his role so far except his character’s name Luo Mingxi. Xia Nan, Pei Zitian, Chen Kexiao, Wang Yiting, Long Shuiting, Shang Xinyue, Qin Xiaoxuan Er, Bai Bingke and Zhang Yikai also feature in the series.

I am always skeptic with Dilraba work (I know but always be politically correct is not realistic) I find the Long Ballad so so, and dropt Love Disigner rapidly. The next one with Yang Yang I will give it a try but she is more pretty than a good actress. The paring with Simon Gong is what it is, a promo pairing not for the well of the drama. And yes it sound like a lot of historical dramas but twice the same story with the same actress is one to much.
The only good thing is for Simon Gong, I am following him until Lost love in times, and I am glad he receives recognition.

Simon gave his best performance to date in Word of Honor. His previous ones, including the currently airing Flames was just okay from his performance POV, nothing great. But hope that he continues to improve his acting skills from Word of Honor, cos I like him too.
This new drama is obviously taking advantage of their “hot” status at the moment. Hope they can work in peace without crazy fans fighting.

Aigoo! Dilraba has earned herself a really dedicated fandom. She is now above constructive criticism and has now through the efforts of her fans solidified her position as an idol, bravo. Trashy scripts can now get ridiculously high ratings over dramas that were painstakingly produced to provide viewers with quality works, and the comments section now belong to individuals with “pink coloured glasses” who think that all viewers have the time to chase fandoms. They forget that there are people with actual lives who turn on their screen for liesure and entertainment after a long day and can be disappointed if they are not getting their money’s worth. I always find these comments intriguing. Why would one assume criticism of actress is immediate support of another? Here Jizzidiot is claiming all Dilraba haters are Yang Zi fans, other posts when Yang Mi is involved any criticism/support of her is an attack from Zhao Liying. Why is there so much of this pitting of actresses against each other? Can’t the criticism be based on performance alone? Personally I find Yang Zi dull and eh to watch. I am totally with you on this. Some people cannot separate quality of performance from the person. Eg. I love Gong Jun’s face. I could watch it for hours. But would I rave that he is a great actor? These fan wars really makes we laugh… I find Dilraba one of the most beautiful lady I ever saw. She is humble, hardworking and always cheerful. Many people who works with her cannot fault her character. Thus she keeps getting new projects…
But to be honest, as a actress, her skills are subpar for the roles she is given. Her acting skills are awakward. that is not being insulting towards her. It is a fact. There are many examples of very good actress and other skills are obvious to many who are not wearing rose tainted glasses.
She knows her weakness too thus she works hard to get better which we can see her effect and results on screen. There is nothing wrong in putting out her weakness as audience. Many of us are not attacking her character or personality. It is her job skills that is still lacking for a female lead roles…she is aware of it and will aim to better herself each time. I find she is a much more relistic person then some of her silly fans…
I personally like her but her job still needs further improvement to earn the pay she gets. It is part of her responsiblity to the audience and her investors and most of All- to herself.

She has worked with daylight entertainment (associated with quality scripts and actors) twice and has been praised by her seniors in the circle. Phew! This comment section is crazy! Am I the only one who watches dramas purely for fun, entertainment, and escapism, and NOT because of who is acting in it? Do I recognize that there are some actors who perform better, are better looking, etc.? Sure! But that honestly doesn’t impact my decision to watch something because I’m in it for the plot, the costumes, the music, the cinematography, etc. Besides, if someone was egregiously bad at acting , they wouldn’t be offered the part in the first place. I’m talking about all actors here, not just the ones specific to this drama. It’s all about preference.

Lol, what’s happening. All this in a DramaPanda comments section? Anyway, Dilraba is indeed more beautiful than she is talented. But she is very strikingly pretty but that in itself is an asset too. I like a pretty cast and I don’t think she’s bad to the point that she comes across as jarring. She has room for improvement when it comes to more in-depth portrayal and character dissection but she has strengths in playing lighter roles and she’s been the bright spot in a couple of dramas. The scripts in China are very limited for female actors so it’s not to her demerit that she’s not acting in a wide variety of shows. She hasn’t showed a very wide range thus far and is lacking in her more serious roles, but she’s serviceable and like I said nice to look at and that is never a minus.
As for the other actors, it’s not like the 90/95-ers are very talented anyway. Most of them are limited in many ways too. She’s widely acknowledged as the top visual and those who are more talented aren’t as pretty. It’s a weak batch of actors overall and she’s clearly one of the two top (the other being Yang Zi). Ultimately it boils down to preferences so each to their own.
