A blunder recently occurred on Chinese variety show Hello Saturday, where the production team mistakenly made a name tag for Zhang Jingyi that had the photo of Zhou Ye, sparking outrage among fans of both actresses.

Zhang Jingyi appeared as a guest on the show along with her cast mates on Chasing Dreams. However, on the nameplate prepared by the show, her name was paired with a photo of Zhou Ye who wasn’t even present. Netizens noticed the mistake when fellow guest Zhang Yanqi shared promos on social media, which he later deleted, but it had already spread online.

On May 2, Zhang Jingyi’s studio released a statement announcing they would temporarily suspend promotional efforts for the upcoming episode. Zhang Jingyi’s studio further explained that props and materials involving the artist’s image were not communicated to them in advance. Additionally, their staff were not allowed to enter the recording venue during filming, preventing them from catching the mistake. Her studio demanded that production team immediately remove the incorrect materials, review and correct all related content and issue a public apology.

Zhou Ye’s studio also simultaneously issued a statement, saying that her image was misused and demanded a response from the show. Both sides emphasized that their artists had suffered online harassment due to the incident, while reserving the right to pursue legal action.
