30-year-old Chinese actress Wei Xiao (Smile Wei) surprised fans on April 26th by announcing her marriage. She posted on social media, “Thank you everyone, sharing the joy with you all,” and included photos from the day she registered her marriage. Wei Xiao’s husband is actor Qiu Yushuo, 34 years old. Some may remember him as one of the participants of the earlier dating reality show Perfect Dating from 2015 to 2016 and has been active in short dramas in recent years. The two met while working together on short dramas in 2019 that developed into a real-life romance.

What also sparked discussion was the appearance of Wei Xiao’s close friend, Zhao Lusi, who attended as a witness. Netizens had spotted Zhao Lusi at the venue; and it turned out to be for Wei Xiao as she had witnessed her friend’s marriage. Zhao Lusi and Wei Xiao are known to be close friends in the Chinese entertainment industry since working together in The Romance of Tiger and Rose and repeatedly collaborating in Zhao Lusi’s other works like Hidden Love, and Love’s Ambition. When Zhao Lusi experienced serious health issues at the end of 2024, Wei Xiao was the person who remained by her side. Zhao Lusi shared several photos with her best friend, even playfully holding the marriage certificates. She wrote, “It’s not about ‘wanting’ happiness, you will definitely be happy. I will always protect your happiness, just like you once protected mine.”
