Snow Kong Xue’er and Deng Kai have finally earned their breakout roles after playing the second couple in Pursuit of Jade. Kong Xue’er, who started out as an idol before transitioning into acting, received praise for her role as the level-headed Yu Qianqian. Meanwhile, Deng Kai, previously known for supporting roles and villains, delivers a layered performance as the “madly obsessive prince” Qi Min. Their very successful on-screen pairing has led fans to call for a reunion, which is already happening in Jiang Men Du Hou, where they will once again play the second couple.
Incidentally, both actors had already been cast as Shen Yue and Huangfu Hao, a scheming crown prince and a vengeful beauty, in Jiang Men Du Hou even before Pursuit of Jade aired. Their market appeal only went on to show the production team’s great foresight in securing both stars ahead of their rise in popularity.
