Chinese actor Song Ningfeng posted a lengthy statement on April 1, admitting to having an affair. He apologized to his non-showbiz wife Zhang Wanting, his daughter, and Ms. Q (the third party), and announced an indefinite suspension of his acting career.

The controversy stemmed from audio recordings and chat logs leaked online, alleging an affair that began in 2025 and lasted over a year. The 45-year-old actor confirmed their authenticity and admitted to cheating during his marriage, deceiving Ms. Q by hiding his marital status at first, and making promises he could not fulfill, such as divorcing and remarrying her.
He also apologized for controversial remarks heard in the recordings, including “Shouldn’t you compensate me?”, where he appeared to shift blame onto Ms. Q and portray himself as the victim, accusing her of “destroying his family” while admitting that he pursued her. He said these statements reflected his “most selfish and cowardly” side, acknowledging that he was the one who had lied.
Addressing his wife Zhang Wanting, Song Ningfeng acknowledged that he had long ignored her unease and instincts, ultimately destroying her sense of security. He also commented on allegations that Zhang Wanting threatened to expose naked photos of Ms. Q, saying the root cause was his own infidelity and that he does not blame her.

In the leaked audio, Ms. Q questioned Song Ningfeng about whether he had considered his responsibilities while being intimate when his five-year-old daughter, Anna, was nearby, with a child’s voice calling “Daddy” heard in the background. This sparked severe public backlash not just because of the affair, but also because it involved his daughter.
He clarified that rumors claiming their daughter witnessed the affair are false, stating that the child was asleep in another room and did not see or hear anything. However, he emphasized that regardless of whether she was present, he had already failed seriously as a father and was “unfit to be one.” He added that he will suspend all acting work indefinitely, undergo psychological treatment, fully respect Zhang Wanting’s decisions, and asked the public not to disturb his family.

hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. no idea who this person is, but what a terrible person. being intimate with your mistress while your daughter was nearby? luckily she didn’t accidentally see anything, but there’s always that risk. cheating is already low but to do it while your child is close by is even lower.
