After nine years, the sequel to Boy Hood, which originally starred TFBOYS members Roy Wang, Karry Wang and Jackson Yee, is finally moving forward. However, Boy Hood Season 2 (我们的少年时代2) will feature a completely new cast made up of members from the fourth generation of TF Family.
Given how rare it is to see the three TFBOYS members reunite, the casting decision did not come as a complete surprise. Still, some have criticized the production for continuing the franchise under the Boy Hood title despite the absence of the original stars. Production team sees the series as a brand-new story that continues the spirit of its predecessor.
Boy Hood Season 2 Cast and Plot
Unlike the original drama, which centered on baseball, the sequel introduces a storyline combining basketball and music. The story follows a group of teenagers whose basketball club is on the verge of disbanding. Through a wager, they join forces with members of the campus band to transform an abandoned warehouse into a shared space.
With top billing becoming an increasingly sensitive topic among idol fandoms, the cast announcement listed the actors by age, from oldest (16 years old) to youngest (13 years old). Boy Hood 2 stars Zhang Guiyuan as Gu Chenyang, a passionate basketball player; Zhang Hanrui as Xu Anbo, a main vocalist and photographer; Wang Lujie as Fu Binyan, a cool and aloof senior student; Zuo Qihan as Li Haoyu, a free-spirited youth; Chen Yiheng as Lin Qingyuan who grows through adversity; Yang Bowen as Zhou Yang, the rational student council president; Chen Sihan as band member Chen Song; and Chen Junming as the warm and supportive Xie Yizhou. They are joined by seasoned actors Ai Lun, Tu Songyan, Yuan Ran, Xu Baihui and more.
Filming for Boy Hood Season 2 began on February 25, 2026 and is expected to continue until May 2026. Many scenes are being shot on the campus of a private school in Haikou, Hainan.
