Late actress Kathy Chow (Zhou Haimei), widely remembered by audiences as the “most beautiful Zhou Zhiruo,” passed away in Beijing in December 2023 after suffering a sudden heart condition. She was 57 years old. Beyond her memorable screen roles, she was known among close friends for her deep love for animals.
Following her passing, the future of her beloved pets became a concern, and it turns out they were adopted by colleagues in showbiz. Recently, Chinese actress Li Qinqin shared an update on social media, revealing that Kathy Chow’s two golden retrievers, Zhou Dundan and Zhou Liuliu, live under her care. She wrote, “Three years together, fulfilling a promise with love.”
The two dogs are seen running freely and affectionately interacting with Li Qinqin. Zhou Dundan was taken in by Li Qinqin shortly after Kathy Chow’s death in December 2023, and they have lived together for over two years. Zhou Liuliu was initially cared for by Chow’s manager, Zhou Feng, but due to frequent work travel, the dog was transferred to Li Qinqin’s care in September 2025, allowing the two canine companions to be reunited.
Often typecast on screen as a villainous mother-in-law, Li Qinqin presents a striking contrast in real life as she is known to be an animal welfare advocate. Over the past two decades, she has reportedly rescued and helped rehome more than a thousand stray dogs. Speaking of Kathy Chow’s dogs, she shared, “What I accepted was not just the responsibility of care, but the duty to safeguard a dear friend’s enduring bond.”
