The Queen of News 2 premiered without one of its breakout stars, Regina Ho who played Tsui Hiu Mei, a sweet rookie whose character transforms to a fiercely strategic news anchor. With her absence sparking discussion online, Ho recently took to social media to address the situation directly, revealing that she had pushed hard to return, but ultimately couldn’t. Contrary to speculation about tension with lead actress Charmaine Sheh, Regina Ho sets the story straight.
“Just like all of you, I really miss Xu Xiaowei. This character is extremely important to my acting career! In fact, I did work hard to fight for the chance to return~ But because of season one’s storyline and scheduling issues, I wasn’t able to appear. If The Queen of News 3 happens, I promise I will try my best again so that Tsui Hiu Mei will make a powerful comeback for revenge! 😆 But I don’t dare guarantee that everyone will definitely see Hiu Mei in the end 😝 After all, there are many factors the company has to consider when producing TV dramas!”
Incidentally, Regina Ho was also pregnant during the time of filming for The Queen of News 2.
