21st Century Prince’s Wife, which has been unveiled under the working title Perfect Crown starring IU and Byeon Woo-seok, has revealed its first stills at the Disney+ preview event today. The two leads looked so good together that the audience couldn’t stop cheering. Honestly, it’s a pairing we absolutely needed. True to its title, the story is set around a monarchy in modern South Korea.
IU plays Seong Hee-joo, the second child of a powerful chaebol family. She has everything but is still limited by her commoner status. Hee-joo is capable and fiercely competitive, and she enters into a contract marriage to raise her social standing. Meanwhile, Byeon Woo-seok plays Lee Ahn Daegun, a sad prince. He has royal blood but nothing else since he’s not the heir to the throne due to being the second son of the king.
This is IU’s next drama after her Best Actress win at Blue Dragon Awards and Byun Woo Seok’s next drama following his breakout role in Lovely Runner. It’s certainly poised to become Disney+’s next big K-drama hit of 2026. It’s giving Hotel Del Luna feels where IU had some of the best outfits ever. While she’s no ghost in vintage this time, she’s a wealthy chaebol. So from the looks of it, it’s another fashion feast while our male lead, who definitely has model physique, is literally a prince. Of course, just being pretty isn’t enough, but Perfect Crown is based on a script that won an award for its storytelling, so expectations are high. It is directed by Park Joon Hwa, known for works like What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.

hm, I have doubts about this pairing. Visually they do not look good to me together. On the other side IU is excellent actress so no doubt she’ll bring a-lot to the table while he has not proven himself yet. Apart from one big hit which is relying more on his looks than acting skills he has a lot to wish for in domain of acting skills. I hope he improved so this drama is more than excellent actress mediocre actor prodiction.
