It’s been a year since Heroes (天行健), a late Qing dynasty drama filled with action and political intrigue, centered around a group of individuals caught up in a high-stakes treasure hunt. Despite being criminally overlooked in viewership ratings, it gained a cult following among anyone who’s seen it. Now, the creative team and lead actor Qin Junjie reunite for Blemish Flaw (棕眼之谜), a 16-episode psychological suspense drama.
The story follows Yang Zhenghui (Qin Junjie), a true-crime vlogger investigating the mysterious disappearance of his ex-girlfriend Liu Wei (Fu Jing). His search leads him to Zeng Jie (Wang Duo), a celebrated ceramic artist whose studio fire suspiciously coincides with Liu Wei’s vanishing. On the surface, Zeng Jie seems like the perfect husband, but behind his refined persona lies a chilling plan to murder his wealthy wife, Bai Xiaoling (Huang Mengying), and claim her fortune. Yet Bai Xiaoling, elegant and confined to a wheelchair, harbors her own quiet revenge. Also starring Pang Hanchen and Chen Siche, the drama reunites the Heroes cast minus Liu Yuning since we have Wang Duo stepping into the role of the deceptively charming husband whose full of red flags.
The title Blemish Flaw refers to imperfections that appear on ceramics during firing, a fitting metaphor for the story. If Bai Yicong’s genius shines through again in the screenplay, we’re in for a tightly built mystery where every story contradicts the last, keeping viewers hooked until the very end. It is directed by Wei Lizhou. Zhang Ming’en and Li Muchen make special appearances.
Blemish Flaw premieres November 5, 2025 on Tencent Video.
