Xianxia series Lai Zhan 来战 has officially begun filming on June 29, 2025 at Hengdian World Studios with the shoot expected to last around four months. It’s adapted from the novel The Master’s Feeling Distressed 师父心塞 by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang who also writes the screenplay. It’s not her among popular novels though the author’s many works have already been been successfully adapted into hit dramas, from Love Between Fairy and Devil to The Legend of Shen Li.
In Lai Zhan, Ju Jingyi plays female lead A’Dai opposite Zhang Yunlong as the wine-gourd-carrying Xiao Yihan who’s the heroine’s former master. It’s a reunion of sorts for both leads after 2017’s Xuan Yuan Sword: Legend of the Han Clouds where Ju Jingyi played a supporting role. The booting ceremony was met with massive fan support especially from Ju Jingyi’s fans going all out with huge flowerwall decors alongside LED displays, banners and sponsorships. It’s said to be one of the strongest fan showings ever seen for a female celebrity in the Chinese entertainment industry—showing just how devoted her fanbase really is.
The cast also includes Xiao Yan, Gu Zicheng, Zhang Junning, Qi Yuchen, Hai Yitian, Ma Xinrui and more with a guest appearance by Jelly Lin Yun. It is produced by Stellar Pictures.
