Happy 20th to Chapman To and Kristal Tin who just celebrated two decades of marriage! To celebrate such a huge milestone, the showbiz couple held a little get together with close friends, some of whom like Anthony Wong even flew in to Taipei to ring in the occasion. Known for his outspoken political views, Chapman To who’s from Hong Kong has been living in Taiwan since 2020 where he subsequently became a citizen.
Kristal took to social media to share a nugget of wisdom she’d learned through the years. She said oftentimes elders will say that couples should learn to tolerate each other yet she’d always felt that “tolerating” and putting up with someone always held a negative connotation for her. “Why do I have to tolerate things after marriage? Didn’t we love each other so much that we couldn’t help but be together in the first place?” She added later she came to realise that letting go and accepting her partners flaws and all was because she loved him.
Meanwhile in his post, Infernal Affairs actor Chapman shared a photo from their wedding 20 years ago. “Thank you for your greetings. Today, 20 years later, some people are still here, some have left, just like the moon in the water …. I wish you all happiness and for me, happiness is not to dwell on the past, not to anticipate the future but to just live in the moment.”
Speaking of people who are still here and those that have left… It seems amongst his groomsmen, only Anthony Wong has kept in touch. Friends come and go like seasons, but there are some that are friends for a lifetime. Indeed, the Hong Kong actor was part of the couple’s star-studded group of groomsmen. Amongst them were Heavenly King Andy Lau, Patrick Tam, Shawn Yue, Anthony Wong and actor filmmaker Wong Jing. But unlike the rest, Anthony remains close friends with the couple to this day.
