After that open ending and a year of waiting to boot, the continuation to where part one of Eternal Brotherhood left off is finally here. Starring Yang Xuwen, Liu Yuning, Zhang Mingen and Li Mozhi, Eternal Brother 2 紫川之光明王 announced this week that they’ve already secured a release date for May 30, 2025.
Last that we saw of the three brothers, Si Yi Lin (Zhang Mingen), Zichuan Xiu (Yang Xuwen) and their troops in Pa Yi were under siege and completely surrounded. With no way out, no reinforcements coz the other Zichuan armies were otherwise occupied, and an enemy set on waiting them out just until their food and rations dry up, the odds weren’t in their favour.
Elsewhere, Di Lin (Liu Yuning) learns of his two brother’s predicament and cursed them both for being two idiots. Unable to leave them to suffer, he prepares to lead his men on a daring rescue all the while calling himself the “third idiot” in the situation.
When they shot the drama in 2021, Liu Yuning wasn’t as hotly in demand yet. Now that the wildly popular Prisoner of Beauty is currently airing, some are accusing the show of riding on his coattails. When compared to the others, Liu Yuning’s role is relatively small. Still, whatever the case may be, the show had an unfinished story—and at least now, it finally gets a chance to be seen.
