Filming has officially begun for The Days of Seclusion and Love (风月不相关) on May 17, 2025, at Hengdian World Studios. Many were surprised to see only male lead Deng Wei present. The female lead was noticeably absent. Rumors suggest that it’s 21-year-old model-actress Vanda Margraf, who was still attending fashion events in Italy and hadn’t yet joined the production.
Adapted from Bai Lu Cheng Shuang’s novel of the same name, The Days of Seclusion and Love is shaping up to be a male-centric epic. Deng Wei takes top billing with a solo poster released when his casting was announced, and the 30 year-old actor was certainly the star at the booting ceremony.
Deng Wei’s Fandom “Diamonds” Formed a Sea of Purple
In turn, fan support was nothing short of spectacular. Deng Wei’s fandom, known as “Diamonds,” organized a large-scale event in Hengdian that drew over 4,000 supporters, forming a purple sea in his honor. The immersive setup included a 28-meter flower float, fire cannons, themed banners, fireworks, and purple buses. Even major brands like Dior and ELLE joined in with sponsorships. The scene looked more like a concert than a drama launch and Deng Wei was all smiles and waving, appreciative of his fans.
A Male-Centric Adaptation
Meanwhile, the missing female lead sparked plenty of discussion. Some questioned her professionalism, while others sarcastically remarked that with so much emphasis from fans to ensure Deng Wei as the star, he might as well be doing the drama solo.
Deng Wei plays Yin Gezhi, a hostage prince caught in a political struggle in the fictional Li State. It’s presumed that the revenge arc of the female lead, a central storyline in the novel, may have been significantly reduced—something that might not sit well with fans of the original.
