Hong Kong actor Chung Fat (鍾發) recently sat down for an interview (威哥會館) where he talked about the hard life of a martial arts stuntman. He added that having a good boss is very important. Unexpectedly, Chung Fat accused Jackie Chan of his poor treatment of his bros in the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.
According to Chung Fat, it was Jackie’s bestie Mars Cheung Wing-Fat that had it worst. “Mars was the most miserable one, the one who works the hardest. All the stunt doubles came from Mars… all worked so hard.” He argues that Jackie could’ve supported them for life with just a fraction of his wealth and asked, “Why didn’t you?”
He recalled a scene for 1985’s Police Story where two people who dove-off from a double decker fell. Chung Fat said one of the men, Chris Kin-Sang Lee was unconscious in the hospital for days. Yet Chung Fat claims Jackie didn’t even bother to check on him. Chung Fat said, “That’s why I’m exposing this—I’d like to. Let him grit his teeth in anger, let him come talk to me. I absolutely have the right to say these things.”

“Jackie Chan, where would you be without your team? You won’t be where you are without Sammo Hung.” He said it was Jackie’s film with Sammo that enabled him to film Police Story which made him rich. In sharp contrast, Chung Fat was all praises for Sammo Hung. “I praise big brother (Sammo) and Wong Ping Yiu” who he said put a lot of effort tailoring the role for him. Thanks to Sammo’s support everyone on Hung Ga Ban (Sammo Hung Stunt Team) were able to stand on their own feet.

Jackie Chan is one star I have no respect for. The way he treats his daughter is just too awful. I read recently he re-wrote his well to include his ignore daughter to improve his bad father public image.
I dont know if this is true..or just rumours his PR team leaked…

How did he treat his daughter? It’s natural that he has no affection for her since he never was in her life. Why should he pretend otherwise? His daughter is no saint either. There’s also a ton of conflict between mother and daughter. If the mother who brought up the girl could not get on with her either, what more the father who was never in her life for a day. His daughter has more issues with the mother than with Jackie. Her own mother has cut ties with her.
The girl is in her mid-20s now, unemployed, estranged from her mother, dumped by her high-profile partner. She needs to grow up and get a control on her own life. I have no sympathy for people who used their past hardships or misery as an excuse not to be responsible to get their own lives in order.
If anything, I have more sympathy for the son. Constantly in his father’s shadow, constantly being told and criticised by Jackie that he is not good enough, constantly being unable to carve out his own career because everyone knows he is Jackie Chan’s son. He went to jail for marijuana’s possession. He changed himself.
Jackie has every right to write his will as he wishes. It’s his money and his property. And no, I don’t believe he would re-write it just as a PR stunt. It’s too late for that anyway. Much more likely, if indeed he is editing his will, in his old age, he felt remorse (he certainly does in the way he brought up his son and he certainly regretted some mistakes he had made ) and maybe thinking of making some amends.
Just in case, you are wondering …. no, I am not a fan of his. But neither am I a fan of moralistic judgements on other people’s lives based on tabloid gossips.

You have said it….

Someone is defending a terrible father. He could have made a difference in her life If he tried. I’m rolling my eyes.
HL
I roll my eyes too… @Anon, from the start have state just what a shit father he was, is and likely will be. Spread his seed but dont take responsibility.

Let’s be real, Jackie Chan is no saint. Never liked him and that fake goofy persona he tried to sell to the western audience.

Agree 100% with you.

On one hand, I believe in free market. What you get is what the market is willing to provide. That said, though, there weren’t that many options for stuntman back in the day. So Jackie and Sammo and other martial performers ran a monopoly on the market. They can dictate the prices of what their teams get. Take it or leave it, which is unfortunately very anti-competitive and as a result, these employees were taken advantage of.
In today’s day and age, mistreating team members is a very serious accusation and can make or break an artist’s reputation. The sort of scummy behavior Jacky exhibits with his team is because they let him and he was the market. Back then, it was acceptable. I’m glad he’s speaking out because even if nothing will be done to Jackie, at least we know what kind of dbag Jackie was.
As they say, you live long enough, you get to see yourself become a villain. Hero to zero. Never too late, though, to right his wrongs
