Former idol Cao Lu proves that tenacity and persistence do indeed pay off. After constant rejections to appear in comeback survival show Sister Who Make Waves, Cao Lu finally took things into her own hands to make her idol dreams finally come true. And it looks like she’s another step closer to doing it. Recently, the 37-year-old excitedly shared that she has officially signed with a new Korean agency and secured a new contract on behalf of all the members of Fiestar.
Cao Lu made her debut as a member of the girl group Fiestar in 2012. Unfortunately, the band never quite made it to the top. In the super saturated Kpop market, things were so hard that the ladies of Fiestar even had to work part-time jobs to make ends meet. Even Cao Lu, who previously shared she didn’t have a penny to her name in her six years with the band had to rely on her mum for support.

Starting Over at 37
“For my dreams, to give my youth a happy ending, for my teammates, for every one of our “let’s’”. I will fight again in a foreign land ~ Cao Lu! Fighting!” she excitedly captioned. Six years after Fiestar disbanded, Cao Lu announced in 2024 that she would be reorganizing the group once more. But this time though at her own expense. To do so, she spent 1000 hours live streaming bilingually to make enough money to buy back the copyright of Fiestar’s classic “You’re Pitiful”. It was this desperate move that made MBC’s Radio Star and other programs sit up and give the defunct (and now revived) girl group a second look. Prior to securing contracts, the group’s revival made Fiestar the first Kpop girl group that operated without an agency.
In her vlog, Cao Lu expressed her appreciation for fans who continued to support them. “When times were bad, you were all willing to continue to support me behind the scenes, believing that I can succeed through my own efforts.” Now that they’d been given a second chance, she promised to keep grinding and to prepare well for the next phase.
