Justice In The Dark Returns: Full Broadcast Begins In Japan Two Years After the C-Drama Was Taken Down
Screencap from Justice in the Dark trailer

After two years, Justice in the Dark (光渊) aka Mo Du is expected to finally get a full broadcast, starting in Japan on March 7, 2025. The web drama, which originally aired only eight episodes in China before getting pulled due to censorship has secured a broadcast on Japanese television Wowow.

Unlike the usual fast-paced Chinese drama releases, the Japanese broadcast adopts a weekly schedule with two episodes airing every Friday. For those who had already seen the first 8 episodes back in 2023, this means it will take a month before episode 9 can continue the story in April. The drama is said to have 30 episodes in total, with the finale expected to air on June 13, 2025. Fans are hoping that some of the previously cut scenes from the Chinese version might be restored in the Japanese broadcast.

Thankfully, Justice in the Dark has indeed premiered in Japan as scheduled, allowing viewers to see leads Zhang Xincheng and Fu Xinbo together onscreen again. The version retains its Mandarin dubbing with Japanese subtitles. Hopefully, this time, it will make it to the end, giving us the full adaptation of Priest’s popular BL novel Silent Reading that the cast and crew worked so hard to bring to life.
