Before the pandemic hit, Taiwanese actor, singer and dancer Will Liu has been steadily working towards growing his career in the mainland. But instead of acting, the 52-year-old opted to try his hand at the highly lucrative live-streaming market. When the entire world was on lockdown, he quickly pivoted towards making workout videos. A good decision on his part because with a captive audience on Covid lockdown, Will became a huge fitness star and gained a whopping 70.035 million followers on social media, known as Liu Genghong girls/boys. But sadly, people’s interest in fitness live-streams also waned by the end of the pandemic leaving him practically hemorrhaging fans as reports say he has already lost 8.54 million fans on social media.
In the general scheme of things, losing some followers might not sound so bad seeing that the fitness-influencer still has millions of fans supporting him. However, the truth is, people just aren’t working out at home like they used to—let’s be real, the lockdown fitness craze didn’t last forever.
Recently, Will Liu also announced leaving his management company Wuyou Media, a well known agency that handles popular internet celebrities. It’ll be interesting to see how he continues to evolve and find new ways to engage his audience.
