Is 50 the new 20? Just by looking at Taiwanese singer Jeannie Hsieh, you wouldn’t believe the showbiz veteran is already 50-years-old. Indeed, the singer has been in the industry for more than 35 years, yet she still looks like she has hardly aged since her debut. Known as Taiwan’s Queen of Electric Music for her unique performance style combining the hokkien dialect with a sprinkling of Mandarin, Cantonese and English, Jeannie recently showed she still got the moves when she danced to the viral “Gwenchana” song that’s all over social media.
“It’s the weekend #letsdancetogether #50istheagetoworkhard #gwenchana” she captioned. Wearing a short pleated skirt with a cropped pink and black top and a bow on her hair, Jeannie or Xie Jinyan, exuded girl group vibes as she danced through the song.
Beyond her music career, Jeannie is also a single mom. She gave birth to her son at 24 but has kept details about him private, hoping to shield him from the public eye. After overcoming many obstacles, from being told she may never walk again after a horrific car accident to inheriting her dad’s massive gambling debts after his death, Jeannie Hsieh made her return to the entertainment scene when she appeared in the comeback survival show Ride the Wind in 2024.
