According to Taiwanese news outlets, actor Darren Wang Talu has been arrested for allegedly evading military service. The 33-year-old actor, best known for his breakout role in the Taiwanese film Our Times, has since focused on building a successful career in mainland China, appearing in Chinese reality shows and starring in dramas like The Wolf. He was also in the hit crime film No More Bets.
Reports indicate that Wang was among individuals involved in cases related to military service evasion and document forgery. Taiwanese authorities conducted a search operation early in the morning, leading to his arrest in Taipei. Wang is currently under investigation, with further updates expected from the authorities.
According to Taiwanese law, all male citizens aged 19 to 36 are required to fulfill military service obligations. The entertainment industry has seen several male celebrities under scrutiny in the past such as actors Ethan Ruan, Mike He, and Joe Cheng who faced allegations of delaying graduation to avoid enlistment before they eventually enlisted or were granted exemptions for medical reasons.
