Last we saw these two together, Shen Yue and Gao Zhiting were still pretty fresh faced noobs in 2017’s A Love so Beautiful. Hard to believe it took them eight years before reuniting on-screen. The family drama Liu Zi Mei 六姊妹, which literally translates to “six sisters”, tells the tale of six sisters and their struggles growing up in 1960s China. It stars award-winning actress Mei Ting opposite Lu Yi. Among the huge ensemble cast, fans of A Love So Beautiful would surely notice the reunion between Shen Yue and Gao Zhiting, calling it the “untold” story between the show’s second lead and heroine.
In Liu Zi Mei, Shen Yue plays a guest role as the younger version of the kind eldest sister He Jiali who’s the main protagonist. Gao Zhiting plays He Jiali’s first love Tang Weimin, a brave and persistent young man who remains steadfast in his love for her. Now the love story between these two is anything but smooth sailing. With both their families staunchly against their relationship (hence the almost star-crossed lovers bit), they’re forced to split. At the time, family honour and grudges take precedence over personal feelings so it seemed like their love was doomed from the very beginning. The same character is later played by Li Chen.
Liu Zi Mei opens during the Lunar New Year holidays this February 3, 2025 at primetime on CCTV-1 and Tencent.

I can’t believe A Love So Beautiful aired over 8 years ago!! I remember being obsessed with that drama! I must of watched it over ten times when it was streaming on netflix lol. I can’t wait to see Shen Yue and Gao Zhiting together in this new drama!
