Korean actor Park Sung-hoon may have just gotten his big break though not without controversy. Time and again, the 39-year-old actor has proven his versatility playing the bully in The Glory, the big villain in The Queen of Tears and now, transgender woman Cho Hyun-Ju in Squid Game 2, which started out a controversial character yet has easily won hearts as one of the fan favorites.
However, the actor recently landed in hot water after accidentally posting on Instagram a porn parody image of Squid Game styled as an adult film cover. Despite quickly deleting the post and clarifying through his agency, BH Entertainment, that it was an unintentional mistake, the incident has negatively affected his image. Apparently, it may even have legal consequences in Korea.
This controversy coincides with the postponement of the script reading and test filming for his upcoming tvN time travel romance drama, The Tyrant’s Chef where he has landed the male lead role. BH Entertainment stated that these schedule changes were due to South Korea’s national mourning period following the recent Jeju Air crash that killed many. The agency expressed frustration over rumors tying the cancellation to the actor’s incident.
Meanwhile, discussions about the drama’s casting continue with Im Yoona previously confirmed as the female lead. However, much of the online conversation remains focused on whether Park should step down. Critics argue his involvement could overshadow the romantic tone of the drama, while supporters contend that one mistake shouldn’t end his career.
