It’s a wrap for Republican drama Ran Shuang Wei Zhou 燃霜为昼, which officially announced the end of filming today, November 29th. The mystery thriller tells the tale of a female acupuncturist and a cold-blooded killer who met due to a planned assassination attempt. Interestingly, whereas Leng Wensheng (Tian Jiarui) initially intended for Hua Xiaomeng (Wang Yuwen) to be his scapegoat, the two fall in love despite the odds stacked against them. The series stars Uvin Wang Yuwen and Tian Jiarui with Li Wenhan and Snow Kong who both started out as idols cast for the second lead. Rao Jiadi, Li Xinze, Zhang Shu and Cao Yuchen also feature in the upcoming series.

In the past year, it feels like Wang Yuwen is “everywhere” with so many of her dramas airing. This year, she already has another Republican drama out titled A Lonely Hero’s Journey. That said, she will play the leading female role in this the new one unlike in A Lonely Hero’s Journey which features Joseph Zheng and Chen Duling at the helm.
Meanwhile, co-star Tian Jiarui’s career has grown in leaps and bounds since his acting debut in 2023’s My Journey to You. Without doubt, the 25-year-old actor won the hearts of countless fans in the show. Given his back to back roles in Guo Jingming’s dramas, I mean, it’s pretty clear to everyone who their agency is trying to build up next isn’t it. This time around, it’s a different creative team and a level up to leading man for the actor. This also marks Tian Jiarui’s first time in a Republican drama.
