So a bunch of dramas have been announced lately, one of which is Chasing Dreams (梦花廷) which pairs up Chen Zheyuan and Zhang Jingyi. Tencent’s new historical romance series just kicked off filming this week, but we already have the first posters of the cast in costume. Adapted from the novel Xie Luo (缬罗) by Xiao Ruse, the author behind Novoland: Pearl Eclipse, the story is once again set in the mystical land of Jiuzhou. It follows the poignant romance between a blind princess, Ti Lan, and a young general, Tang Qianzhi, as they navigate love and destiny across a tumultuous world.
Chen Zheyuan takes on the role of Tang Qianzhi. I can’t say I’d picture the 28-year-old actor when thinking about a general, but he does have the versatility to play a seemingly carefree youth harboring an unwavering resolve to defy fate. Opposite him, Zhang Jingyi stars as Princess Ti Lan who is blind yet cunning. The 25-year-old actress who had a successful run in her recent foray into the historical genre with The Story of Hua Zhi looks beautiful in her princess garb. The show indicated that billing between the two actors is not in any particular order except using their surname.
Out of the main cast, there’s no way you’d miss Liang Yongqi who was part of the cast of this year’s megahit series The Double. This time around, he’s the second male lead. Also joining the cast are Lu Qi, Chen Cheng and He Qiu.
