Jacky Heung (Xiang Zuo) is a martial arts actor known to be the son of Hong Kong industry bigwigs Charles Heung and Tiffany Chen. The Hong Kong actor recently went viral due to people imitating his “thinking pose” from a movie. However, a recent commercial event in Shanghai turned controversial when the 40-year-old star slapped Fang Xiaolong, a Bruce Lee impersonator during a playful martial arts demonstration.

Apparently, following some friendly banter during their demonstration, Jacky Heung praised Fang, saying, “You mimic well; your moves are cool,” giving him a thumbs up before suddenly delivering a slap. The slap was a reference to another popular meme from Jacky Heung’s movie, suggesting that it was all in good fun. However, the incident drew attention under the hashtag #XiangZuoShouldApologizeToBruceLeeImpersonator. The impersonator and his team accuse Jacky Heung of unprofessional behavior, saying it angered everyone and even filed a police report.

Jacky Heung responded with a statement explaining his side, that he even spent an extra two hours helping the impersonators improve their performance for a better demonstration. He also shared a clip of them practicing different moves that they’d show during the demonstration. He said the slap was a playful reference to both his own recent trend of “slapping himself” and Bruce Lee’s iconic move. He stressed that everyone left the event in good spirits. He added, “If some people are deliberately doing this to me for malicious news, I have nothing to say, I really should not have set aside those two hours to share Mr. Bruce Lee’s characteristics with you, this is my kindness, please don’t turn my goodwill into negative headlines…”
