Someday Or One Day star Greg Hsu has officially enlisted in the military. Not to worry though because he’ll be back soon enough in 2025. News of the 33-year-old Taiwanese actor’s unexpected enlistment was confirmed by his agency after he was spotted with a shaved head quietly enlisting as a new trainee in Taichung yesterday. “Thank you all for your concern. Kuang-han is currently enlisted in the army. Please give him some space. Let’s all look forward to his return next year with more beautiful works for everyone.”

According to Taiwanese media, Greg Hsu will be undergoing 21 days of basic military training before getting reassigned to a different unit for substitute service (替代役). And as confirmed by his agency, his mandatory service duration will take him a year. Unlike other branches in the military, undergoing substitute service mainly involves serving in the government and other public agencies such as the police force or the fire service.

“Better Late Than Never”

At 33-years-old, many are wondering why he enlisted so late. Logically, he should’ve already completed his military service ages ago. Nonetheless, many are in agreement that it’s still a case of better late than never and that it’s good despite his popularity that he’s serving.

Greg Hsu saw his popularity skyrocket after starring in the drama Someday or One Day in 2019. This year, he appeared alongside Choi Jin-woong, Yoo Jae-Myung etc as the sleek assassin named “Mr. Smile” in the South Korean suspense drama No Way Out: The Roulette.
