Chinese stars Song Weilong and Tian Xiwei were recently in Busan, South Korea to attend the 2026 Global OTT Awards. The two were one of the last few to make their entrance on the red carpet and both ended up bringing home the People’s Choice Award for the respective male and female categories. Song Weilong received approximately 7.82 million votes for his portrayal of Lin Yusen in the drama Shine on Me, while Tian Xiwei garnered around 7.06 million votes for her role as Fan Changyu in Pursuit of Jade.
Song Weilong, who introduced himself as a Chinese actor, also gave part of his acceptance speech in Korean opening with the greeting “Annyeong haseyo!” before thanking everyone for their love. Tian Xiwei expressed her gratitude in English, Chinese and Korean. She opened with “Hello everyone, my name is Tian Xiwei, I come from China and I’m an actress. It’s great to be here.” She went on to thank viewers and fans for their support and ended with a sweet “Saranghae (I love you)” in Korean.
Both stars were also nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress, though they did not win. With the recent global success of Pursuit of Jade, many were surprised that lead actor Zhang Linghe wasn’t nominated. Meanwhile, Deng Kai who also rose to fame because of the drama was among the nominees for Best Supporting Actor.
The awards generated buzz in China, where hashtags trended as fans celebrated their idols’ success, which is also a nod to the increasing global reach of C-dramas. Welcomed by cheers throughout the evening, both stars carried themselves confidently on stage, while Tian Xiwei gave her trademark finger-heart gestures, showing no signs of unease despite revealing that she had felt nervous before the ceremony.
