Another popular novel from renowned novelist Gu Man is getting a drama adaptation! Many of us are familiar with Love O2O and You Are My Glory, both with male lead Yang Yang who’s definitely known for his good looks. As for the newest adaptation of her work, Shine on Me (骄阳似我) based on the novel Blazing Sunlight is the next up to bat with Song Weilong and Angel Zhao Jinmai who were already rumoured to star in the drama confirmed as its leading couple. No surprises there as the pair were already spotted at the opening banquet yesterday so today’s announcement at its boot ceremony isn’t entirely unexpected.
It’s worth noting here that the author Gu Man will also serve as the drama’s screenwriter so there’s every chance the drama will be faithful to the book. Meanwhile, the cast will include Lai Weiming, Bai Bingke and Fan Shiran with Allen Lin Yilun making a special appearance to play Zhai Jinmai’s uncle. Likewise, Hong Kong actor Lawrence Ng has been cast to play Nie Xiguang’s dad Nie Chengyuan.
Shine on Me tells the story of Nie Xiguang, a cheerful young lady who enters the workplace and her sweet love story with Lin Yusen, a workplace hotshot who was forced to pivot careers after a car accident forced him to retire as a surgeon. The beginning of their relationship was far from ideal as he deliberately made things difficult at work for Xiguang. However her presence in his life finally allowed him to heal his unresolved issues after his accident.
