Jay Chou has shut down rumors alleging he fathered a child out of wedlock before his marriage. As the speculation gained traction online, the Taiwanese superstar was dragged into the controversy. In response, both his agency JVR Music and Liu Ruoxue, the woman at the center of the speculation, issued statements to deny the allegations.
The 47-year-old singer has been married to Hannah Quinlivan for 11 years, and the couple have three children together. The pair first met and began dating in 2010 before registering their marriage in 2014. The latest speculation stems from a blind item by Zhuo Wei, once dubbed the “No. 1 paparazzo in China,” who alleged that a music legend whose name is three characters has a secret love child. Netizens attempted to identify the celebrity based on clues including a Xi’an business connection and a female shareholder surnamed Liu, eventually pointing fingers at Jay Chou and Liu Ruoxue. The two reportedly became shareholders of a Xi’an company in 2012 before exiting the company in 2014 and 2021 respectively.
Jay Chou’s agency, JVR Music, first issued a statement denying the rumors and that they’re gathering evidence to take legal action against those spreading false information. Liu Ruoxue, also broke her silence recently. Her lawyers stated, “After verifying the matter with our client, Ms. Liu has confirmed that online claims alleging that she and Mr. Jay Chou have an illegitimate child, among other statements, are entirely false.” They are also collecting evidence to take legal action.
