IU and Lee Jong Suk Break Up After 4 Years, Agencies Confirm Split

On July 10, celebrity couple Lee Jong-suk and IU (Lee Ji-eun) officially announced their breakup through their respective agencies. South Korean media outlet Dispatch first broke the news, and both agencies confirmed the split.

IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, stated, “It is true that they have broken up. They have decided to return to being good colleagues.” Lee Jong-suk’s agency, ACE Factory, also confirmed the breakup but declined to provide further details, citing privacy. According to people close to the former couple, their increasingly busy entertainment schedules led to fewer opportunities to meet, and they ultimately decided to end their relationship amicably.

K-pop superstar IU and actor Lee Jong-suk first met in 2012 while co-hosting the music program Inkigayo. After spending ten years as close friends, they eventually became a couple. The two began dating in 2022, and after breakup rumors surfaced several times this year, South Korean media reported today that they have since ended their four-year public romance and decided to continue supporting each other as close colleagues in the entertainment industry.
