Chinese actor Cheng Yi has been busy filming his upcoming drama Lies Hunter (狩谎) in Hong Kong since the start of July, shooting scenes at several iconic locations, including Central, Yau Ma Tei Police Station, and the Stanley waterfront. Since production began, many fans reportedly traveled to Hong Kong specifically to support Cheng Yi, booking flights and hotels while spending on restaurants, transportation, and shopping during their stay. The joke is that his fans have surely helped boost tourism in the city.
Lies Hunter is one of Cheng Yi’s most anticipated upcoming dramas. With Eric Tsang as executive producer, it has an impressive lineup of special stars featuring the likes of Anita Yuen and award-winning actor Tony Leung Ka-fai. Filming has been kept under wraps, with Edmond Leung quickly deleting behind-the-scenes photos he shared on social media, showing himself filming a close-quarters fight scene with Cheng Yi. Nevertheless, his look on set with the actor in a white polo and black trousers certainly trended among fans.
Xiao Shunyao, Cheng Yi’s co-star from Mysterious Lotus Casebook, is also part of the cast, marking their third collaboration together. Cheng Yi play a psychologist, while Xiao Shunyao portrays a law enforcement officer. In Lies Hunter, Lin Yanting, a psychologist with a mysterious past, possesses exceptional combat skills and an extraordinary ability to read people. Yet fate seems determined to destroy his life by bringing tragedy upon his family. To clear his father’s name, he joins the police force as a consultant, helping solve complex cases while uncovering the truth behind the deaths of those closest to him.
