Popular Chinese actress Esther Yu Shuxin has been caught in controversy in recent years and the latest is from a former friend, Pan Youcheng who played Wang Xingyue’s guard in The Double, publicly detailing their falling-out. The 31-year-old actor spoke during a livestream about how their friendship deteriorated. He said that in the past, she frequently asked him to help promote her new dramas by reposting promotional content, and he always agreed out of friendship. However, when he later asked her to help promote one of his own projects, she allegedly refused, saying that company rules did not allow it. He said her response left him disappointed, and he eventually told her, “Don’t contact me anymore,“ effectively ending their friendship.
The two first met in 2016 while participating in the reality show Grade One: Graduation Season. At first, they interacted frequently and even celebrated each other’s birthdays. Esther Yu has risen to megastardom through her hit dramas while Pan Youcheng continues to play smaller roles. Pan Youcheng also trended recently over his claims that Esher had undergone cosmetic surgery during her university years, but that assertion was shut down by her fans.
Pan Youcheng claimed that their friendship ended because Esther Yu refused to help promote his newest drama where he was finally the leading man. Meanwhile, fans dug up Esther’s past posts suggesting she had publicly promoted his projects on multiple occasions in the past.

Esther Yu is someone who looks good but not necessarily pretty. I know it’s a contradiction, you can be good looking but not beautiful. I guess it’s her loss since the guy probably has better tastes in girls.

Wow the entitlement here is strong. They were coworkers for a few months 10 years ago. For him to expect her to promote his projects in perpetuity seems unreasonable. Judging by his complaints, they were obviously not close friends. Feels like he just wanted the attention by mentioning her name. She often promotes projects for people’s she works with.
