The producer of Love Story in the 1970s (纯真年代的爱情) has revealed that Wang Tianchen and Cristy Guo Xiaoting may be close to reuniting for a new drama. She said, “I’m also working on a new project that hopes to reunite jiejie (older sister) and jiefu (sister’s husband) for the third time. I feel this is still something many people are looking forward to.”
Wang Tianchen’s nuanced portrayal of Qu Hua in Love Story in the 1970s drew significant attention, with the actor even being mobbed by fans at the airport. It’s also no doubt thanks to the popular pairing with Cristy Guo Xiaoting, who played his love interest, Fang Mujing, the main protagonist’s older sister. Their story as the second couple begins with a marriage of convenience that gradually blossoms into love. Notably, this is not the first time the two have portrayed a married couple, as they also played supporting roles in 2023’s Miles to Go.
Fans clearly can’t get enough and are hoping a third collaboration will materialize. Both have responded favorably towards the idea of working together again, and with the producer’s recent hint that a new project is in development, it may happen sooner rather than later.
Wang Tianchen and Cristy Guo Xiaoting, both born in 1993, are currently 33 years old. Their career trajectories are quite similar though Guo Xiaoting was actually also a child actor having entered showbiz at the age of five. While both have built diverse filmographies, they are often cast in supporting roles. This time, however, fans are calling for them to take on leading roles together.
