The Doll Game (今天也没变成玩偶呢) is a C-drama adapted from a novel that also has a manhua titled “I Have Yet to Become a Doll Today”. The Youku series has officially announced Chen Duling and Chen Jingke as the leads of a story that follows an apocalyptic survival squad.
Set in the year 2055, when the “Doll World” descends upon humanity, the story unfolds in a end-of-the-world setting where humans are forced to participate in deadly survival games: anyone who refuses to play is immediately turned into a doll, and anyone who loses a game suffers the same fate. The main storyline follows Bai Youwei, a disabled genius, and Shen Mo, a combat-skilled “guardian.” Together, they lead a team made up of the elderly, the weak, the sick, and the young as they attempt to clear more than ten survival game instances.
Yang Haoyu plays retired teacher Cheng Weicai, Victor Ma plays the hot-blooded Tan Xiao, and Zhang Jingxi plays the clever youth Pan Xiaoxin. The first posters are pretty fun and the premise of a “doll apocalypse” is certainly unique. We know Chen Duling played the clever heroine in The Glory and it looks like will be seeing a different kind of cunning here as she plays a wheelchair-bound prodigy with a devoted knight by her side. With the success of How Dare You?, which also has a manhua, perhaps adaptations of successful works are the way to go. Filming has officially begun in February 2026.
