Hong Kong actress Chrissie Chau Sau-na has responded after businessman Martin Lee Ka-shing, son of the late real-estate mogul Lee Shau-kee of Henderson Land, reportedly filed a defamation and harassment lawsuit against her on February 13.
According to Hong Kong media, Martin Lee who is married to actress Cathy Chui Lee, alleges that Chrissie Chau made suggestive remarks during film promotions that fueled long-standing rumors linking her romantically to a married wealthy heir. He claims that in 2016, while promoting a movie, Chau’s “implied statements” led to sensational headlines with him. Martin Lee further alleges that during promotional activities for a new film in June 2025, Chau “revisited the kept-woman rumors,” using the controversy for publicity.
In response, Chrissie Chau issued a statement the same day, saying she was “surprised and deeply aggrieved” by the lawsuit. She firmly denied any relationship with Lee, stating that she has “never known Mr. Lee and never had any form of relationship with him.” She clarified that the only time she publicly addressed the rumors was during the time she was asked about it in an interview last June, where she “clearly denied any connection” and explicitly stated that she did not know him. Chau also rejected accusations that she fabricated stories for publicity, saying she feels wronged by claims that she engaged in “false news hype” to increase exposure. “I believe the truth will ultimately prevail,” she added.
Chrissie Chau further expressed strong opposition to “any form of fabricated reporting and online bullying,” saying she has also been harmed by such content. She has entrusted her lawyers to handle the legal matter.
