Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh’s career has reached new heights at age 50, which now brings attention to her personal life as she remains single. She recently sat down for an interview with her friend Toby Leung, during which she opened up in depth about her views on having children.
“Now?” Her Honest Reaction to the Question of Having Children
When asked whether she would consider having a child if she were to meet her ideal partner now, Charmaine asked in disbelief, “Now?” She admitted that the possibility is already extremely low. First is the issue of physical stamina. Quoting the saying “have children while you’re young,” she felt she might no longer have the energy needed to cope. Second, she believes it is incredibly difficult to juggle both career and family. One has to carefully divide time between children, a husband, and still preserve some personal space. She sighed, “I often feel that career women who can manage both work and family are truly amazing. I don’t think I’d be able to handle it.”
At one point, Charmaine said to Toby, “Actually, sometimes I envy you, having a marriage and a happy family.” But she quickly laughed and added that she also cannot imagine the hardship of waking up at six every morning to send children to school. Charmaine shared that if she could go back 20 years, she might have chosen to marry and have children. But her mindset has since changed. Seeing the sacrifices her friends make for their families, she finds it “far more exhausting than filming”.
With an estimated net worth of at least HK$200 million ($25 million), Charmaine Sheh has already made a will, planning to leave most of her assets to the three people she cherishes most in her life, her mother and her two brothers.

She can always adopt a child and work less to balance it. She can make one child’s life better. There are so many children need homes.

but why?
people have choices. if she feels she doesn’t want to be mother that is ok. If she is forced into it by society pressure the child would suffer.
So many children would be better off if parents were never their parents. Including children you mention that were left. Society pressure is wrong.
She made her choice and is clear about it. That should be appreciated. She is not hurting anyone. Irresponsible parents are hurting their children.

@Du
Of course she doesn’t have to adopt a child unless she wants to do that.
