With her powerful comeback in The Queen of News 2, Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh is once again dominating television screens. But off-screen, the 50-year-old actress has been just as candid and captivating, openly discussing life, mortality, and that she has already prepared her will.
Recently, Charmaine has faced the passing of respected seniors in the entertainment industry, including her “godfather,” Benz Hui. She shared that attending the memorial triggered a wave of introspection: “I was chatting with people there and said I wished I could go back to my thirties. Back then everything around me was joyful – dating, getting married, having babies. But as you enter another stage of life, you face many separations and goodbyes. I’m still learning how to adjust, return to normal life quickly, and accept that birth, aging, illness, and death are inevitable. We still have to move forward, and that actually makes me more positive.” “Life is so short,” she added. “We should do more things that help others and make ourselves feel fulfilled.”
Among the changes she made was preparing her will. Charmaine explained, “I wrote it recently. I worked so hard to earn my money. If anything happened to me, I wouldn’t want my lifetime savings to go to waste. I hope it can be distributed according to my wishes.” Charmaine has reduced her workload to spend more time with her mother. She also has an older brother and a younger brother.
Though she has not married or had children, Charmaine says she feels no regret. “I’ve moved past the stage of wanting children,” she said. “Of course, my friends with kids are happy, but they put in so much time, energy, and strength, far more exhausting than filming. I don’t think I want to take on that burden.”
