Disguised Family: Two Spies and a Cute Daughter Create an Unexpected Home

Chinese short drama Disguised Family 伪装家族 promises sharp action, layered identities, and a lot of heart. The story centers on Yan Yingjun, an elite agent played by Yang Yeming, who must collaborate with Nan Caiyun, portrayed by Tang Jiawen, a former agent who has turned her back on her organization. Their mission requires them to pose as a married couple with Caiyun’s daughter, Nan Xiaotang, played by child actress Feng Mi, to infiltrate a powerful high-society circle. More specifically, they need to join the parents–teachers association of an elite school, with their daughter even “helping” by befriending their target’s son. How do you not think of Spy x Family, and honestly, I’m all for it.

But with everything built on a lie, a bond begins forming between the three. Yan Yingjun can be heard in the voiceover asking, “When the mission ends, will this family disappear?” while Nan Caiyun confronts him with the chilling question, “Who are you, really?”

So I loved when Chinese short dramas came up with the Mr. and Mrs. Smith-esque The Killer Is Also Romantic, and now we’ve got two A-level agents with an adorable daughter. It’s a premise you don’t often see in C-dramas so please, drama gods, make this good. Filming lasted just about a month, from December 2024 to January 2025. And since reservation is already open, I’m hoping it will air soon.
