'Justice Is Mine' Brings Another Version of ‘Your Honor’ and Nick Cheung’s Comeback as a Judge Who Breaks the Law

Hong Kong award-winning actor Nick Cheung, who’s become known mainly as a film actor, makes a return to dramas after nearly two decades. Justice Is Mine (絕命法官) is a crime thriller that boasts an all-star ensemble cast of Myolie Wu, Joseph Zeng Shunxi, Eddie Cheung, Michael Tse and more.

Set in the 1990s, at the heart of the story is Judge Qin Yu (Nick Cheung), a respected figure admired for his integrity. But when his son is involved in a hit and run, he makes a fateful choice—to protect his son at all costs, even if it means bending and breaking the very laws he once upheld. Standing on the opposite side is Inspector Tong (Myolie Wu), a tough but compassionate policewoman. Determined to uncover the truth, she soon finds herself caught in a dangerous cat-and-mouse chase with the man she once trusted.

If you’re a fan of Your Honor, the storyline will be familiar. Judge Qin Yu’s only son, Qin Yiwei (Benjamin Tsang), injures a ganglord’s son in a car accident. Out of desperation to protect his child, the upright judge bends the law. The original acclaimed Israeli series Kvodo has already inspired several international remakes, including the U.S. and Korean versions of Your Honor, played by the likes of Bryan Cranston and Son Hyun-joo. It’s no wonder this adaptation, produced in collaboration with China’s Youku, was able to bring Nick Cheung back to television.

Justice Is Mine consists of 20 episodes and premiered on September 28, 2025.
