New Youku drama Jiao Huan Ren Sheng (lit. Exchange Lives) 交换人生 has officially begun filming on October 25, 2025 in Ningbo, Zhejiang. The production will later move to Shanghai, with a filming schedule of around 90 days. It is directed by Cui Rui, best known for Lost in the Stars, and written by Xu Su and Wang Xiaohan, the creative minds behind Cross Fire, which is another one in the sci-fi, youth, e-sports genre. The show is produced by Zhang Meng under Youhug Media, marking her third collaboration with actor Zhang Kangle.
The cast features Joseph Zeng (Zeng Shunxi) as Mars, an esports champion and four-time league MVP, and Zhang Kangle as Lin An, a genius but humble mechanic. The story unfolds when the two experience a swap inside an elevator, forcing them to live each other’s lives. Lin An must navigate the competitive world of professional gaming, battling skepticism before leading his team to victory, while Ma Da returns to small-town life, uncovering the mystery behind an internet cafe arson mystery from years ago.
The two leads are giving off super visuals in their recent photoshoot, building anticipation for yet another drama with dual male leads. Some joke that it’s Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling back together as both would’ve been a duo if they weren’t in different adaptations of the tomb-raiding franchise. The rest of the cast was just announced with Liu Xiening, Jiang Lai, actress-producer Zhang Meng doubling as a guest star and Eden Zhao Zhiwei.
