Hong Kong singer Gigi Yim has officially stepped out of the shadows. After more than a year of being sidelined due to contract issues, the 20-year-old announced she has ended her contract with TVB and is now a free agent. At a recent press conference, she revealed that she has set up her own studio, marking the start of a new chapter in her career. Still, emotions ran high when she expressed gratitude to TVB for nurturing her career from her early days on Stars Academy. She fought back tears, recalling the support of staff who watched her grow, and stressed she would never forget those who helped her along the way.
Gigi Yim fans , who call themselves “Gi炎粉,” gathered to support her comeback appearance at the launch event for an upcoming musical where she plays the “Future Girl” inside the mind of Nobel Prize-winning scientist Charles Kao, and she admitted rehearsals have been nerve-wracking but exciting.
Clarifying recent rumors, Gigi Yim denied signing with any major record labels or Chinese companies, though she admitted many offers have come her way. For now, she intends to work independently through her studio “Natural Quality”—a name she says better reflects her than the original idea, “Natural Queen.” Gigi also explained her tearful livestream earlier this year, saying it stemmed from confusion about her future. During the period where she was “frozen”, she kept busy by taking singing and dance lessons, attending university, and even learning filming techniques in Beijing.
