Chinese actress Bambi Zhu Xudan recently became emotional during a livestream. She choked up as she told fans, “Whether happy or not, you guys are like little suns shining on me.” The actress explained that her usual late-night broadcasts were a way to connect with fans after long workdays, emphasizing her desire to be seen as a friend rather than a distant celebrity. She expressed that their support was what kept her going.
However, the next day, when fans asked if she had cried, Zhu Xudan denied it. Her attempt to downplay the incident sparked some playful teasing online. While many fans praised her for being authentic, others questioned the timing of her emotional display.
Just days earlier, Zhu Xudan had been caught in controversy for liking a post that mocked her Love Game in Eastern Fantasy co-star Yu Shuxin who’s been facing scandals recently. The two had been vocal about their close friendship, making the “like” seem out of character for Zhu Xudan. She quickly explained on social media that it was a “misclick,” even stating that she wished she could “cut her hand off” over the blunder. However, she still lost followers as a result.
The actress was scrutinized by bashers who’d read into her actions. One example is her history of sending birthday greetings to actress Yang Mi yearly. Zhu Xudan had stopped publicly wishing Yang Mi happy birthday for a couple years, incidentally coinciding with a career low for Yang Mi after she left their agency, Jaywalk Studio. When she resumed greeting Yang Mi for her birthday this month, some questioned her “sincerity” as it came just after Yang Mi’s very successful career comeback in This Thriving Land. Nevertheless, Zhu Xudan’s fans have remained incredibly supportive, showing love for their idol.
