Tina Chou and her 7 years younger husband Liao Xunwei have called it quits on their marriage. In a statement which took many by surprise, the actress and former Hey Girl member whom you may also know via her stage name Da Ya (Big Tooth) emphasised the split was an amicable one and that there was no third party involved.
Prior to this, an article she shared talking about emotional withdrawal between couples fueled tons of speculation. The article spoke of the gradual loss of connection as one of the main causes for the breakdown of a relationship and how one person may act like they did nothing wrong thus leaving their partner feeling increasingly lonely. Her comment “very accurate” helped to fan the flames even further.
Tina Chou and Ah Liaoshi have been married for five years. In their statement released through her agency, the actress said, “another couple has peacefully separated and is now living happily ever after. We married because of love and after five years, we’ve decided to return to being just friends”. She said the reason for their split was not because of any serious quarrels nor was there a third party involved. The main reason she said was that in the process of living together and getting to know each other, they realised that “the relationship that suited them best was that of being family and friends. We both tried hard but we also had to accept that love was gone.”
Tina said the divorce proceedings ended pretty smoothly with all formalities finalised on July 24th. Thanking everyone for their love and support, she asks everyone to shift their attention to worthier topics now that they’ve shared the information to avoid further speculation and attention.
