The finale of Chinese music show Singer 2025 recently concluded, crowning singer Chen Chusheng as the season’s champion. The 44-year-old singer who was also the champion of Hunan TV’s singing competition Super Boy in 2007 has had a second wind in his career, rising to fame in recent years with his group of singer friends through reality shows. This time around, he comes full circle with another win in Singer 2025. American country singer Mickey Guyton placed in second and Chinese singer Shan Yichun placed in third.
However, Netizens were divided over Chen Chusheng’s win with speculation that the outcome was pre-determined. A photo circulated online—allegedly taken inside the show’s control room—shows a handwritten list of rankings that matches the final placements. Many were surprised when popular singer Shan Yichun whose duet with guest singer Leehom Wang drew a lot of buzz for the show only placed in third. It also didn’t help that most of the contestants were powerhouse vocals such as Malaysian singer Jess Lee in 4th and Taiwanese singer A-Lin who finished last in 7th place. Adding to the drama, technical difficulties plagued her performance.
Nevertheless, many praised Chen Chusheng’s vocals. The singer himself spoke graciously when he said, “There’s no true ‘King of Singers’ in my heart—just a group of artists deeply passionate about music.”

Aren’t these “reality” shows always rigged though?

Good. His stages were the most comprehensive and produced some good tracks to listen to.
