Back in May, Hong Kong actress Rosina Lam found herself the subject of a bankruptcy petition filed against her by the owner of her multibillion apartment at The Peak. According to judiciary records, Rosina’s case was set to be heard on August 26 this year. Today July 8, the actress finally issued a response professing that she was not involved in any related debts.

In a statement through her lawyer on social media, it appears a settlement has finally been reached between the two parties and that the petitioner has already moved to submit an application withdrawing the petition they filed against her. As the case is still under review, her lawyer said that they won’t be making any additional comments about the case to ensure it won’t affect the ongoing legal process. They also urged everyone to avoid further speculation and not to spread false or defamatory remarks against the actress.

Alleged Financial Difficulties

On May 30, news that a bankruptcy petition was filed against the TVB Best Actress winner surprised many. The petitioner, a local company called Jadespring Limited who owned her luxurious HK$ 1.5 billion apartment at The Peak, also filed a bankruptcy petition against Rosina’s finance executive husband Jason Mok Chang-sang whom she married back in 2015. Jason Mok had been declared bankrupt after defaulting on a HK$ 135 million debt earlier.

Rosina had previously told the media that although her husband’s property rental company is currently involved in a lawsuit and is appealing, she felt confused why she suddenly became involved. “Thank you everyone for your concern. I am not bankrupt. Please stop spreading rumours.”
