Taiwanese singer and actress Vivian Chen Derong, star of Chiung Yao classics like Plus Blossom Scar, learned a painful lesson as she faced the repercussions of her recent display of temper in a previous episode of Sisters Who Make Waves 6. The 50-year-old was in the middle of dance practice when a frustrating session caused her to lash out and butt heads with her team mates. “Why don’t you be the captain then?” she burst out.
As captain of her team, the star had a spot of trouble keeping up, causing her to get angry. She believed the group should’ve been more tolerant towards her. When her team’s first performance later failed to pass muster, she wrote a long post accepting everyone’s criticism. “I don’t know how to describe my inner panic when I couldn’t keep up. And I am indeed an incompetent captain.”
A Humbling Experience
In the show’s latest episode, not only was Chen Derong no longer the captain of a team, it seems other team captains were also hesitant to pick her, fearing she’d give them a lot of trouble. Kinda like the kid who no one picks for their team in the playground you know? She’d wanted to join Wang Luodan‘s team but was rejected by the captain who said “my team might have a painful experience again.” Ouch. When she finally joined the team led by Betty Wu Xuanyi , Chen Derong humbly said “I can be trained by you” and that “everything is up to you”.
Since the episode aired, many viewers are positive her resulting change in attitude after being humbled on national TV will mean she’s more cooperative and have a more positive attitude. “There will always be embarrassing moments in life. But the most important thing is to have the courage to face humiliation. “
