“I don’t want you as my sister, I want you as my wife.” Wang Ziqi and Lu Yuxiao who both played supporting roles and had their respective love interests in The Longest Promise reunite to star in their very own historical mystery titled Serendipity 榜上佳婿. After teasing its upcoming premiere for days, the Tencent series finally announce its release date for a same day premiere tonight at 6pm on April 25, 2025.
Fake Siblings, Forgotten Memories and a Love Triangle?
In Serendipity, Wang Ziqi’s character Lu Chang falls in love with Jian Mingshu. Unfortunately for him though, they’re supposedly siblings – at least that’s what he claims after rescuing her from her fall off the cliff which saw her memories erased. Clearly, the show is serving up a lot of unrequited love feels in the lead up to its release.
With so many things pulling the two in different directions – let’s not forget she still has to regain her memories, plus there’s the added complication of Wang Hongyi’s character Song Qingshi who’s also interested in Mingshu and a mystery to get to the bottom of, the path to happiness is certainly a bumpy one for Lu Chang and Jian Mingshu.
Adapted from Luo Ri Qiang Wei’s novel titled “The Noble Son in Law”, Serendipity tells the story of Jian Mingshu, a daughter of the Jian family who accidentally falls of a cliff and loses her memory. Because of this, she becomes the only surviving member of the family after narrowly escaping the massacre that wiped out her entire clan. She’s rescued by Lu Chang who pretends he’s her brother and the pair journey to the capital together to take the exam. As Mingshu looks into her mystery of her origins, she faces numerous obstacles but is unknowingly protected by Lu Chang. Through their shared trials, their bond deepens as they work together to overcome them.
Serendipity also stars Snow Kong, He Qiu, Wang Xichao, Liao Huijia and Yang Shize in a special starring role.
