Chinese medical drama Fight for Beauty 以美之名 drops new stills for a look at the Yao Chen and Alyssa Chia led show focusing on the little known side of the medical beauty industry. Although the medical genre has grown in popularity in recent years, majority of the shows usually cover the professional (and personal) lives of doctors in the ER or in surgery. As one of the firsts of its kind, Fight for Beauty attempts to demystify medical beauty as it follows the story of two estranged former classmates who fate brings together a decade later.
Central to the plot are the two female protagonists Qiao Yang and Zhou Jingwen who are both practising plastic surgeons. Yao Chen portrays Qiao Yang, a deputy chief at a hospital whilst Alyssa’s Zhou Jingwen is a founder of the GEM plastic surgery hospital. Previously torn apart by a misunderstanding, they come together several years later to face challenges and opportunities.

In addition to the plot, another reason why the drama is an anticipated one is its strong casting lineup. The drama’s two female protagonists need not a long introduction as their works speak for themselves. Award-winning Chinese actress Yao Chen has already been in the industry for more than two decades, gaining popularity in My Own Swordsman and in the more recent All is Well. Meanwhile, her co-star Taiwanese actress Alyssa Chia is a Golden Horse Award winner who is known for her iconic roles such as The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. Other notable stars appearing in the series are Yuan Hong as well as Hou Wenyuan, Dai Lele and Wang Xi.
Update: Fight for Beauty is set to premiere primetime on March 30, 2025, streaming on Youku and airing on broadcast networks Beijing TV, Dragon TV and Zhejiang TV.
